I hate my immune system.

Just got back from my 3rd visit to the doctor in less than two weeks. It turns out that the illness that has confined me to bed the past 5 days is atypical or walking pneumonia. Lovely.

Apparently, walking pneumonia is a tricky little bugger. First it goes, “Oh, I’m just a teensy weensy cough and cold…Just take some Robitussin…I promise I’ll go away…” It then knocks you out for a week just as you think you’re getting better.

I have been going mad here at home. My confinement makes me feel like I’ve been living like a vampire. Since the fever and chills began on Sunday, I have not been able to be in bright light, look at monitors without getting a sinus headache, or drink anything but human blood (I kid..or do I?). Kurt is now showing coldlike symptoms and I wouldn’t be surprised if his turn at it comes in a few weeks.

Tuesday was a day full of blood work and x-rays. Ughhh. To date, I am taking a total of four drugs: nasty big yellow antibiotics, some nasal spray that smells like jasmine (quite nice actually), a puffer for the cough, and advil cold and sinus for the fever. My mouth tastes permanently like chalk. Reminds me of those candies you get on Halloween that look like orange but taste like powdered soap.

If my symptoms worsen or don’t lighten up by Saturday, I’ve been asked to take up to three (three!!) different antibiotics in combination. I’m just hoping that it doesn’t come to that–there’ll be more drugs in my bloodstream than blood!

Anyway, enough whining…back to bed.
