My cousin Leanne has expressed interest in seeing more food / meat photography, so below is a link to my gallery dedicated to the foodstuffs Kurt and I have been fortunate enough to experience. The recent photos are our homemade creations but many are the work of great Vancouver restaurants and the great chefs from our circle of family and friends. Enjoy the pics but be careful if viewing with an empty stomach…
We had a fantastic dinner at Blue Water Cafe last night, but someone thought it was in poor taste to bring my Powershot along…boo-urns. Managed to Google some images anyhow. Our dinner itinerary:
Interesting bread starter
Delicious french rolls accompanied by a spicy chickpea butter. Tasted like zingy humous!
Quintessential Martini (Kurt’s cocktail)
Darebury’s Quintessential vodka, extra-extra dry with a twist
Vanilla Sky (Kare’s cocktail)
42 Below Manuka honey vodka, fresh vanilla bean, fresh citrus, bubbly
Sashimi Platter
2 sockeye salmon, 2 red tuna, 3 albacore tuna, 2 fresh bay scallops, 2 hamachi, 1 amaebi, and a rose sculpture made of flounder topped with yellow tobiko
Big Eye Tuna (Kurt’s entree)
grilled rare with crispy soba noodles, braised daikon, red miso & purple mustard sauce
Arctic Char (Kare’s entree)
pearl barley risotto, bacon, butternut squash, black olive & vanilla sauce
If you ever have the opportunity to dine there, make sure you try their amazing vodka cocktails and as much seafood as you can ingest. Unfriggin-believably divine.
