Yesterday marked the 26th year of my existence, and thanks to everyone who made it such a memorable day.
The fun started at work when my coworker gifted me with a dark chocolate lollipop that said “Happy birthday”. It looked very yummy, but the tub of gummie bears at our desks had to go first. I plan on eating this lollipop today..thanks Lorne!
Some of the folks in Sales invited us out in the afternoon for drinks at Dix. I ran home to grab my camera, which the coworkers also took a crack at. Ivy took a great panoramic video of the scene (much to the chagrin of the others, I think!):
Staggered back home after only 2 beers (I’m a cheap beer drunk) and took a little drunken nap until we were ready for dinner. Jay, Chris, and my brother Kyle joined Kurt and I at Josephine’s for some yummy Filipino food. Very proud of Chris for expanding his culinary horizons with Filipino BBQ chicken ["barrr-beh-coo chee-ken] and the “lechon” (roast pig). When Tita Josephine found out it was my birthday, she gave us all dessert on the house, called “halo halo”. It’s a sort of mixed smoothie with shaved ice, vanilla ice cream, red jello and red/mung beans. Very good. If you ever want to try out some Filipino cuisine, I highly recommend her restaurant over on Main and 11th.
Next stop: the Polish Hall for a night of salsa dancing! Kurt and I met with Grover, Ivy, Albert, and Tito JR for the beginner lesson at 9pm. Took lots of photos and a bit of video:
The rest of the dancers started coming after the lesson. My cousin Leanne came by as well to merengue with us for a bit before her graveyard shift. Ivy and Grover took a clip of Bill and I dancing near the start of the night:
The absolutely fantastic thing about last night was seeing my friends getting interested in salsa. It totally made my day to share my passion for dancing with people I care about. Ivy was a hit with the dancers and was never lacking for partners. Grover brought some friends and really picked up some great moves from my dancer friend Jason. So hopefully we’ll be seeing Ivy, Albert, and Grover et al on the dance floor again soon!

Looks like it was a blast; sorry I missed out.
Called your cell to leave a voicemail birthday wish, but upon hearing the record prompt, sounds like I had the number of another Clement of the male persuasion.
Either way, happy birthday!

I’ve been forwarding my personal cell phone to my Blackberry from work, so the person who set up my voicemail is saying my name on my behalf (and pronounces it wrong, I might add). Planning on changing that default in the near future.
