Considering I was Kurt-less all weekend, I managed to fit in a number of entertaining activities.
Friday was Dave’s Fundraiser at Shark Club. Much drinking, pool-sharking, and dirty dancing was to be had. Met Lawrence’s girlfriend for the first time and observed highly affectionate activities between her and her longtime girl-friend [he's a lucky guy]. Was slightly amused at the drunken come-ons in my general direction coming from a friend’s younger brother. Almost lost a boob while splayed on the pool table.* You know, the usual. Since we weren’t satisfied after the security guards kicked us out, we rounded off the evening with some Korean eats on Robson.
Saturday was the return to salsa after 8 months of dancelessness. I went all by myself, much to the chagrin of my brother and Jay. My dad said, “Meh” and offered to pick me up afterwards.
Despite what friends and family say, I can actually be quite shy. Especially when I’m doing something for the first time without any moral support. So this experience was nerve-wracking. The first 20 minutes there consisted of hiding in the bathroom and trying to nonchalantly walk around looking like I wasn’t there by myself. Eventually, I joined the group lesson that was going on to feel like I belonged =P That made it a lot easier to relax and just enjoy the music…soon enough, I realized that I got a fair round of dancing in and met a few great leads. Totally worth it! I left rather reluctantly when it was time to meet up with my dad.
Father’s Day on Sunday was great:
