First, thanks to Amber and Raf for solving the last two challenges for our team. Amber’s solution is in the comment on the previous blog post (“wireless” for the Magic Eye one). Raf solved the one that looked like a constellation (“Planet X”). Great job!
This is the current challenge:

My inclination is to use the numbers and the operands in the correct order to calculate the solution. However, I think we need a starting number, which the circles in the middle may allude to. I tried 5 to start (the number of circles in the center) and started with the multiplication working clockwise. That didn’t work. Perhaps it needs to be done in BEDMAS order. And for the starting number, perhaps it’s the total number of circles in the picture, including the circles created by the holes of the centre circles and the arcs connecting the operands. Try it out and post your attempts for us, please.

Clue underneath the challenge: “Each has meaning”
May 07, 2005 @ 22:22:31
A couple thoughts:
a) Number of circles in total diagram (including “holes” and the arcs) = 17
b) The answer could have a dual meaning…I tried the date this game ends (May 12, 2005) in all its numerical combinations but that didn’t work. Perhaps it’s the date for the launch of the next console?
c) I tried 17 as starting number, going clockwise from the multiplication number; clockwise from the division number; in BEDMAS order; in / – * + order…no go.
