Guess what?!

Well folks, it has happened…Kurt and I are engaged!

It happened on Saturday evening, on a seemingly ordinary weekend after Monday, my last day of undergraduate school (yippee). Since then, I have been working at the Bank of Montreal and reverted to my Saturday work shifts at the New Westminster branch. I arrived home to a fabulous dinner setting, with the Christmas tree twinkling and a Bob-log burning merrily in our previously unused fireplace. The dinner table was totally decked out in Christmas green, with our little IKEA wire tree and our IKEA tealight chain as centrepieces.

Kurt prepared a fantastic three-course meal francaise, thanks to William & Sonoma and Kurt’s gourmet chef of a mom: rack of lamb, flageolet beans, and asparagus with freshly made hollandaise. Paired with my favourite cabernet-merlot wine by Wolf Blass (wow this sounds like a menu). We had a great dinner by candlelight, with the fire blazing and jazzy music in the background. We then moved to the fire to have some more wine and slow dance, where Kurt, as he is apt to do after a few glasses, began to wax romantic on me. Unfortunately, I wasn’t quite following the tone of the conversation, so when he said, “Will you marry me?” I had prefaced it in my mind with “Wouldn’t it be nice if I could ask…”! So all I said was, “yeah…that’d be nice…” so he got a little confused!

It took me 5 seconds after I was staring down at the ring, in the box with Kurt down on one knee, before I fully comprehended the situation…and then I started crying! Somewhere in the emotional tumult, I managed to squeal out the Yes, and then we both proceeded to laugh/cry in happiness. It was just perfect!

And so you may now be full of questions…when’s the wedding? where’s the wedding? what’s the ring like? I will field those later, when we have some pictures to post. But yes…we are incredibly happy and I was completely taken by surprise and life is just wonderful at the moment! I wish this is adequately conveying the grin that has been permafixed on my face since Saturday!

So that’s the big news…good night for now!

Immigration Services Society Christmas Party.

Did some volunteering last weekend with Leaders of Tomorrow, at the ISS Christmas Party at Collingwood Neighbourhood house. It was an amazing time and I even got some souvenirs from the 8 cute kids that I was Elf #2 to. Their drawings are posted up on my fridge!

Here are some pictures. I’ll describe further later on.
